Green Card

The “Green Card” insurance policy may be concluded by the legal and natural persons owning motor vehicles registered in Romania.

Applicability
The “Green Card” insurance policy may be concluded by the legal and natural persons owning motor vehicles registered in Romania. The civil liability insurance for the damage caused to third parties by car accidents outside the Romanian territory (Green Card) is mandatory for all the motor vehicles going outside the Romanian territory for personal matter or business.


Starting from January 2007, the civil liability for motor vehicles insurance mandatory in Romania (CVRM) includes not only the coverage of the specific risks on the territory of our country but also extends the validity area to all the countries of the European Union. This does not cancel de need to prove, when traveling abroad by car, that a “Green Card” insurance is held.


Covered risks
The “Green Card” insurance covers the prejudice which the insured or the persons included in the insurance is responsible for in regard to third party persons by car accidents happening on the territory of the countries mentioned in the “Green Card” International Insurance Document.


Compensation
Should the insured risks occur, compensation is awarded for:
• the amounts owed to third party persons injured following a personal injury or death, as well as the damage or destruction of goods by accidents caused by the insured motor vehicle• the expenses incurred in a civil law suit, if the insured has been bound to compensation.



Insurance validity
The insurance is valid on the territory of the countries mentioned in the “Green Card” International Insurance Document, signing the International BAAR (Auto Insurance Office) Convention. This type of insurance is concluded for periods of time strictly delimited.


The insured amount is unlimited.
